JULY 2009 - Spreading Good Cheer

"Summertime.... and the livin' is easy. Fish are jumping and the cotton is high", so goes that old song. Sometimes life is just good. You find yourself in the flow, the groove, or whatever channel that brings up good feelings and a sense of satisfaction. It's essential to notice times like this in life, to pause for the cause of gratitude and allow yourself to dwell on the positive. You can spread your good cheer by letting people know things are Great! It's easy and repetitive to share bad news and hard times and all our aches and pains with others. Rise to the challenge of spreading good news and bringing positive vibrations to yourself and the people around you.

Feeling good can become habitual just like any other repetitive behavior. Take the time each day to notice the parts of your body that are working so well, not just the ones that call attention through pain or strain. As many times noted here, an attitude of gratitude is life changing.

When you're feeling good is an excellent time to consider strategies for improving on your already good life and to come up with plans for dealing with those "not so good times." The Taoist practice of "the Inner Smile" is an extremely simple and useful way to maximize the healing effects of good feelings.

The "inner smile" is just that, a practice of wearing a simple little smile on your face at all times. Take a moment and without judgment or criticism check in with your own facial expression. Many of us unconsciously wear an "inner frown," meeting life's journey with the expectation of disappointment and failure.
