Editor & Publisher: Lisa Hayes-Minney – Lisa Minney is a writer, teacher, publisher, gardener, librarian. She has been writing for central West Virginia audiences for more than two decades and is a graduate of West Virginia Wesleyan College’s MFA program in Creative Nonfiction.. Her meditative essays reflect the blessings and challenges of rural life, the pains of aging, and the memories of a suburban childhood. Lisa also develops writing workshops, teaches as an adjunct college professor, and serves as an Assistant Librarian at Gilmer Public Library.

Mack Samples – Mack Samples is a West Virginia author, musician, and educator. Since his retirement in 1999, Mack has enjoyed some success as a writer and currently has eight books on the market. All of his books have been good sellers. Mack has also always been active in traditional music and continues a busy schedule with the Samples Brothers Band.

Susanna Holstein – As a storyteller “Granny Sue” she performs across West Virginia and out of state, telling stories and singing Appalachian and British ballads. A published writer, Holstein is a frequent presenter of programs and workshops at conferences, festivals, schools and libraries. Her work has appeared in two anthologies of stories about Appalachian women as well as in other print and online journals. Her poem Sago was published in 2012 in Fed from the Blade, an anthology of work by West Virginia writers. Her poetry, nonfiction and fiction works have won  numerous awards at the WV Writers Annual Conference.

Lara Lillibridge – Lara Lillibridge is a graduate of West Virginia Wesleyan College’s MFA program in Creative Nonfiction.  In 2016 she won Slippery Elm Literary Journal’s Prose Contest, and The American Literary Review’s Contest in Nonfiction. She also was a finalist in both Black Warrior Review’s Nonfiction Contest and DisQuiet’s Literary Prize in Creative Nonfiction.  She has had essays published in Pure Slush Vol. 11Vandalia, and Polychrome Ink; on the web at Hippocampus, Huffington Post, The Feminist Wire, Airplane Reading, Thirteen Ways to Tell a Story, Weirderary, and Brain, Child magazine‘s Brain, Mother blog. Her memoir, Girlish, available for preorder on Amazon, is slated for release Nov. 7, 2017.

David Hawkins – David Hawkins, aka the “Herb Doc,” is the owner of Mother Earth Foods. He  is often a featured speaker and teacher throughout West Virginia and Ohio, having taught courses at both West Virginia University’s Integrative Medicine Program and Marshall University. You can catch Dave every Wednesday morning on WVNT 1230 AM on his live radio talk show, Highway to Health. He also conducts the Healthy Living Series, a free local program promoting holistic health and wellness concepts.

Sherri Brake – Sharri Brake loves to share history, ghost stories,  folklore and gravestone symbolism. Over the last 14 years of owning and operating Haunted Heartland Tours, she has had thousands of opportunities to explore haunted locations, interview people who have had experiences and visit many, many historical sites all over the world.

Randy Bodkins – Randy Bodkins is a self-taught outdoorsman, naturalist, and wildlife photogrpaher who has had a lifelong interest in the outdoors.  With digital photography, my goal is to capture natural images. Unaltered and real. His Photos, Custom Greeting Cards, Canvas Prints Are Available at

Janet Smart – Janet F. Smart is the mother of three grown boys. She enjoys writing for children, bringing her thoughts, dreams and imagination to life. When not outside enjoying nature, she sits at her writing desk, her inner child flowing onto the paper. Janet has had poems published and a story in Christmas Traditions, titled,The Old Santa Hat and a writing e-booklet titled, The Handy Little A to Z Book on Writing. Melita Mollohan – Melita Mollohan is a Licensed Massage Therapist, Registered Bowen Therapist, Registered Yoga Therapist, Akashic Record Reader, Reiki Master, Herbalist, Breathwork Healer, and Meditation Teacher. She provides services at Zen from Within in Morgantown, WV.

Russ Richardson – Russ Richardson is a WV Registered Forester who has spent more than 10,000 days in the woods. He owns a tree farm on Crummie’s Creek in Calhoun County WV, and is a popular speaker concerning timbering, forest and land management, and native species.

Tracy Arnold – Tracy Arnold is a wife, mother of two and elementary school educator. She lives with her family in Gilmer County, West Virginia.

Robin A. Holstein – Robin has always enjoyed writing. She has works published in: Anthology of Appalachian Writers Vol 2, Holler – a publication of the Princeton Poetry Project, The State Journal, and The Kanawha-Putnam Ad-Mailer. She has earned several Honorable Mention awards the WV Writers annual contest. Robin is the owner/operator of Robin’s Desktop, and operates an AirBnB.

Janet Fliegel – Janet Fliegel is a former art teacher, current freelance artist and writer. Born and raised in the mountains of West Virginia, currently residing in the the suburbs of Cincinnati.

Judy Wolfram – Judy is a retired homemaker who serves as President of Cabot Recycling in Calhoun County, West Virginia. She is an active member of the community, and raised five children as a single mother. Her columns are hand-written in all capital letters and submitted via snail mail.
