The Story of the Two-Lane Livin' Flag
The banner, graphic or logo that spans the top of the front page of a
newspaper is often referred to as "the flag."
The Two-Lane Livin' flag
was created as a pen-and-ink drawing, without color, by Charlie Whipkey,
artist, florist, and owner of Classic Creations in Grantsville, West
Virginia.
Obviously a skilled
and talented artist, Charlie found that creating our flag to be
challenging -- he had no problems drawing a "two-lane road through the
hills" until I told him the piece had to be over ten inches wide, and
less than two inches tall.
Charlie created the
image specifically so we can alter the landscape according to seasons,
themes within the issues, throughout the year. The color and additions
are added by our staff, with the computer.
