WASTE NOT, WANT NOT
By Judy Wolfram

January 2009 - Natural Oils Save Your Money & Your Skin

Okay, it’s January, and the wind has been blowing and the weather has been cold. How is your skin holding up? I’ll bet it’s dry. I have a solution for you. Natural oils are very good for your skin. Look for these oils in a health food store, drug store or online.

For younger skin, use apricot kernel oil, coconut oil, hempseed oil, wheat germ oil or olive oil.

For more mature skin, use avocado oil, evening primrose oil or rosa mosqueta oil.

For any skin type, you can use almond oil, cocoa butter, emu oil, jojoba or squalrite.

All you have to do is apply a small amount of the chosen oil to your body with damp hands or simply apply it after a bath while your pores are open. This process will keep your skin soft and protected.

Conventional skin care products are a quick fix, but don’t actually do anything to improve your skin in the long term. Simple, natural plant or animal-based oils maintain your skin’s natural moisture balance, are similar to the oils in human skin, are non-irritating, won’t clog your pores, and deeply nourish your skin.

These oils will do the same job at a fraction of the cost of commercial brands and you know what you are using on your skin. There is nothing wrong with that.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Having been raised as an only child at the end of the depression and during the second World War, for Judy Wolfram, doing without was a way of life. Small families did not receive as many tokens or food ration stamps as larger families, so, even though her father had a good job with an insurance company, her family still had to stretch what they could get.
Years later, Judy found herself divorced and raising six children on $400 a month child support. She had to learn quickly how to budget her money, for groceries, school clothes and Christmas and more. She had no food stamps, no WIC. Just home-made food, and nothing fancy.
Now, years later, Judy and her husband Frank live on Social Security alone. So, Judy is still good at stretching a dollar - really good. Some months, there are only a few dollars left over, but the bills are paid, and they eat.
Over all these years, Judy has never had anything repossessed or turned off for non-payment. This is something she is very proud of.
