RECIPES FROM MOM

By Lisa Cooper Laughlin
(taught by Helen Cooper Burns)

School is back in session and football season's started now. Summer flew by and I don't know how.
The evenings are shorter with it getting darker each day.
The gardens are harvested, along with the hay.
Leaves will start changing colors from the cold autumn nights.
The wind and rain bring leaves down in a colorful delight.
Enjoy the days as the skies are clear and blue.
Summer will be over before anyone knew.
Enjoy the fall weather now that it's not so hot.
Enjoy the pretty days because it may rain a lot.
When chores are finished and there's nothing left to do.
Get ready for supper and try something new.
Food just tastes better with some thought and loving care.
Just yell "Dinner's ready" and they'll all be there.
Their mouth will water if you tell them you have a surprise.
Set out a pan of these fresh brownies in front of their eyes!

Mom's Home Made Brownies

Melt 1/2 cup of butter in pan to melt and coat pan. Mix rest of butter with following ingredients in a bowl: 1 1/2 cup sugar 3 eggs 1/2 cup peanut butter 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon vanilla 1 cup self rising flour 1 cup of chocolate pieces (or 1/2 cup cocoa).

If you like thicker brownies bake in small pan.

Wow are these ever good! Save some for the grand kids!
